Bookmark Collector

I bought this bookmark two weekends ago at an estate/yard sale.

It’s Chinese and made from wood, although I don’t know what type. The size is 1 x 3 15/16 inches (25 x 100 mm) It’s nicely painted with two birds on bamboo. There are several Chinese characters in the upper right. It also has an interesting pattern of cutouts at the top and bottom. On the back it’s stamped with “MADE IN CHINA” and it was clearly made for the export/tourist market.

It’s not pictured, but I also have the red, Chinese envelope that it was probably sold in. It also matches some other Chinese bookmarks that I got when I was in China several years ago.

It’s a sweet little bookmark in very good shape.

And I got it for 25 cents!
