We’re back from our vacation with lots of pictures and stories. But, since this is the Bookmark Collector blog, I’ll limit myself, here, to those related to bookmarks. For other images and stories from Borneo, you can check out my personal blog at alanirwin.com.
I went wild on his trip and acquired quite a few bookmarks. In the image above, there’s a representative sample of the variety I brought back. In future posts, I’ll go into more detail on some of them. But for now, I’ll give a brief synopsis.
I came back with 35 bookmarks. They are made from paper, fabric, wood, metal, and laminated leaves. Some were free promotional pieces, many were commercially made for souvenir stores, and some were handmade. At first, I gathered up whatever I came across, but after I realized how pervasive they were, I became MUCH more selective with what I bought.
Unfortunatley, none have the impact as the handmade paper bookmarks from Madagascar, but each one reminds me of some part of my trip.

Welcome home! I love seeing the bookmarks you got, and can’t wait to hear their individual stories.
