Gail Anderson-Dargatz is a writer who’s blog entry about her bookmark making past-time caught my attention. Her post is actually about how she is ending this hobby, but within that discussion is a general description of how she uses dead butterflies and other insects to create bookmarks.
She talks about how the process started as a way to promote her novels and then became a hobby. She describes the pleasures of collecting the materials and how she creates the bookmarks by embedding the iridescent parts into handmade papers or laminating them onto commercial papers.
She’s a wonderful writer and I recommend reading the entire post. Her descriptions are so intriguing that I am now interested in trying the same methods.

Hello Olindo,
Thanks for stopping by. I briefly looked at your website and you have a nice collection of bookmarks. I’ll stop in again when I can spend more time looking at them all.
