Here are a couple of interesting news items about bookmarks that I found recently.
Penn State Commemorative Bookmarks
Penn State is commemorating the contributions made by Coach Joe Paterno and his family to the Univeristy Libraries by issuing a series of seven bookmarks. They are referred to as a Collector’s Series. From the description on the Penn State website, it appears that the set are meant as gifts to donors to their endowment. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an image for any of them.
Children’s Bookmark Contest in Springfield, Oregon
The Springfield, Oregon Library is holding a bookmark design contest for kids. The winning entries will be published for use by the library. From Sept. 24 through Nov. 1, kids in grades K - 8 can pick up an entry form at the library, with the deadline for entry on Nov. 1. The drawings can be about books, reading, or libraries and the theme is “Rise Up Reading”.
