Hi, quite a fascinating site, congratulations!
A quick question- found in an old copy of the Koran a type of gold bookmark, paper clip style , with an extended forearm and pointing finger on one side and the shape of a lower leg on the other (knee down to foot) as the two halves of the clip. An islamic star is imprinted on one side. They sit along the side page edges, page markers as it were and the finger would point to the appropriate line on the page, or marking out individual chapters or verses. The clips metal fold marks them out, otherwise nigh onto invisible.
They look like they’re meant to stay in place although they’re easy enough to remove and relocate.
About an eighth to a quarter inch wide x one inch long with a very vintage look.
Trying to find out what they might be called, nomenclature, etc. Merci

Wow, that sounds really interesting. I’ve not seen such a marker, and I’m not aware of terminology specific to something like that. I’d love to see pictures of the piece. Have you posted any?
Thanks, for stopping by to talk about it.

Thanks for mentioning my paperclip/bottle-cap bookmarkers on your site! They are so fun to make and I love giving them as gifts myself (gave a bunch to my kids’ teachers this year at the end of school). What a neat site you have here!
